CA Community Colleges Deploy Web Conferencing System

The California Community College System (CCCS) is deploying an enterprise-wide Web conferencing solution from Elluminate called Elluminate Live! CCCS is the largest higher education system in the world.

Elluminate Live! is an e-learning, conferencing, and online collaboration tool designed specifically for education, providing integration with Blackboard, Moodle, Sakai, WebCT, and eCollege learning management systems.

The California Community College System includes 109 community colleges in 72 districts and 64 educational centers and serves more than 2.5 million students. The deployment of Elluminate Live! across the system is being handled by CCC Confer, which is a project of Palomar College in San Marcos, CA funded by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.

Said CCC Confer Project Director Blaine Morrow, "We've seen tremendous growth in the use of e-conferencing throughout our system, and I'm confident that we’ll be able to accommodate that growth with robust tools, a flexible approach to service and support, and the same high standards that have already made CCC Confer so successful.  It's an exhilarating time to be involved in higher education and online collaboration."

Elluminate Live! V8 is platform-independent, with pricing based on a concurrent seat model. The company also offers a free version of the system called vRoom, a collaboration tool supporting up to three simultaneous users, including the moderator.
