Verizon Wireless Upgrades Game at U Michigan

University of Michigan football fans get to play with enhanced wireless communications through an arrangement with Verizon Wireless, which has activated a cell on light truck (COLT) that doubles capacity in and around Michigan Stadium on game days.

With more than 100,000 people converging on "The Big House" in Ann Arbor during Football Saturdays, the temporary site is a fully functional mobile cell site that enhances wireless capacity in a given area.

The COLT enables Verizon Wireless customers in the crowd to use their wireless phones concurrently to make voice calls; send e-mail and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games, and ringtones. This is the third year Verizon Wireless has brought a COLT to campus for the games.
