Connect 2.0 To Add File Sharing, Expand Course Offerings

McGraw-Hill Higher Education has unveiled an update to Connect, the company's Web-based teaching and learning platform for colleges and universities. To be released in the fall, Connect 2.0 will include improvements in some of the current features and will be expanded to include world language courses.

Connect is an online system that provides course creation features, assignment management, assessments, grading, lecture capture, and electronic textbooks in a wide range of subjects. When Connect 2.0 is released, it will offer about 130 titles, including, for the first time, world languages.

The new version will also include lecture capture functionality via technology from Tegrity (maker of Campus 2.0), allowing students to access captured materials from a central location.

Some other new features will include:

  • Student performance tracking improvements;
  • Improvements to grading;
  • The addition of new file sharing tools;
  • Student work will be available for preview by instructors when it's in progress; and
  • Instructors will be able to create course libraries for sharing assignments and sections.

As previously reported, Connect will also eventually integrate with the popular Blackboard Learn course management system.

McGraw-Hill said Connect 2.0 will be released in fall 2010. Further information can be found here.
