LogMeIn Launches Free Meeting App

The join.me console, shown here for Mac OS X, hovers on the screen to provide control to the presenter.

Software developer LogMeIn has launched a free meeting and screen sharing system called join.me, along with a subscription-based "pro" version that provides additional functionality.

Join.me allows users to create, through a lightweight desktop app, meetings with chat, screen sharing, and sharing of control of a participant's computer. It supports up to 250 participants and an unlimited number of meetings. No registration is required to use the service.

Join.me pro adds several features to the standard version of join.me, including personalized meeting addresses (such as join.me/my-meeting), the ability to assign the role of presenter to multiple participants, and Web-based tools for scheduling meetings (with calendar invitations for Outlook, Gmail, and others).

Join.me is available now as a free downloadable app. Join.me pro is also available now for $29 per month or $299 for an annual license. Both require Flash 10 to run. The service supports browsers on multiple platforms, including Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Firefox. Further information can be found here.
