Elmo USA has introduced a new document camera that offers computer-free video capture and support for direct control via wireless tablet.

The Elmo TT-12, slated to ship in the fall, offers a 12x optical zoom and combined 96x optical and digital zoom. It incorporates a 3.4 megapixel CMOS sensor with video output resolutions ranging from XGA (1,024 x 768) to 1080p (1,920 x 1,080). The unit supports multi-directional camera positions and can record video (and take still captures) without the use of a computer. It supports frame rates up to 30 FPS.

In addition, the TT-12 provides support for Elmo's 2.4 GHz wireless tablet, the CRA-1, to allow teachers additional mobility while engaged in a presentation. The CRA-1 is a pen-based tablet that includes integrated shortcut keys. It can be used as a mouse and a pointer at a range of up to 50 feet from the receiver.

Other features of the TT0-12 document camera include:

  • USB memory port;
  • Integrated SD/SDHC card port for internal storage;
  • Image Mate software (for use with a USB-connected computer) to help enhance presentations visually;
  • Microscope mode with optional microscope attachment; and
  • Kensington lock slot for security.

AV inputs for the TT-12 include RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin) and an external microphone port. Outputs include HDMI, analog RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin), composite video, and stereo line out.

The Elmo TT-12 is expected to ship in September. Pricing has not been announced, but Elmo said the unit will include a five-year warranty. Additional details will be available on Elmo's site.
