Extreme Networks Unveils 'Snap-on' WiFi Access Points for Colleges

Extreme Networks has released the Altitude 4511 Wallplace Access Point.
The snap-on 802.11n access point, which is intended in the educational realm for dormitories and college campuses, use existing Ethernet ports and CAT 5/6 cabling in the walls.
Features of the Altitude 4511 Wallplace Access Point, which use Motorola's antenna and radio technologies, include:
- One Power over Ethernet (PoE) cable;
- A universal mounting bracket for installation on wall plates;
- A size slightly larger than an iPhone (5" x 2.95" x 1");
- An integrated WLAN controller;
- A pass-through port for devices such as video cameras, printers, and workstations;
- Support for device roaming and network security with a built-in firewall;
- A 400mW radio, smart RF dynamic channel and radio power adjustment, and 26 dBm antenna; and
- Snap-in keystone ports providing connections for additional wired services, such as VoIP phones and coaxial cable.
