Barron's, Snapwiz Unveil GRE Test Prep for Multiple Platforms

Barron's Educational Series and Snapwiz have collaborated to release Web-based GRE test prep software.

Barron's created the material for the test prep activities using multimedia, including games, videos, animations, and text. Barron's GRE provides a 40-minute adaptive computer test that reveals which skills students need to improve. Based on the results, the software immediately shows results with a pie chart, and provides recommendations for individualized lessons based on available study time, scoring goals, and strengths and weakness.

The software, which is powered by the Snapwiz platform, features:

  • Access from anywhere there is an Internet connection, via desktop or laptop computer, or through iPad, iPhone, or Android devices. Test prep activities sync across all platforms;
  • A learning dashboard, which allows students to track their progress and activities. It asks students to enter future test date, how many hours they plan to devote to test prep, and what they think their current level is for verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing;
  • Personalized reporting, which automatically updates students' skill profiles and generates performance reports that provide recommendations after each learning activity is completed; and
  • A sample GRE test.

Students are not only limited to viewing recommended material. They can view all video and text lessons and the Skill Report tab enables students to view overall quantitative, verbal, or analytical writing proficiency.

The GRE test prep is available and costs $69. There is a free version of the iPad app that includes three practice quizzes, a personalized GRE study plan, and diagnostic test with score card.

In addition, the GMAT course will be available in January. Initially, it will be available on the Web and iPad with the Android and iPhone apps scheduled for release in February. The course will provide more than 70 hours of video lessons, three computer adaptive tests, and practice quizzes.
