Embry-Riddle Boosts Student Self-Service Capabilities

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has implemented a new student administration software suite to improve its student self-service capabilities and streamline its business processes.

Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions has replaced the university's legacy system, which, according to the university, was cumbersome to use, requiring up to 25 steps and three separate logins to complete class registration. The old system also required administrators to enter financial aid rewards into the system manually each year, a time-consuming process that made it difficult for students to access real-time financial aid information.

The university has implemented numerous Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions modules, including Campus Community, Student Records, Student Financials, Financial Aid, Academic Advisement, and Recruiting and Admissions.

"Real-time information is critical to a positive educational experience. Students need constant access to their financial stance and progress toward their degree, while administrators require both micro-level information on each student and macro-level information on the entire institution," said Thomas Ball, vice president, Oracle Higher Education Consulting. in a prepared statement.

The new system aims to meet those goals. It enables prospective students to monitor their application status and complete some enrollment steps online. Active students can use the self-service capabilities to monitor their own progress toward meeting degree requirements. They can also select their financial aid award package and view details about their bill, charges, and payments. Faculty and staff can use the real-time student progress information to provide better academic advising.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University serves more than 34,000 undergraduate and graduate students at campuses in Arizona and Florida, as well as its Worldwide Campus, with more than 150 locations throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East.
