Greenville College Adopts New LMS, E-Portfolio

Greenville College in Illinois has implemented a new learning management system (LMS). The college began the process of migrating to Desire2Learn Learning Environment in January of this year with a pilot program for 20 courses. By the end of May, all of the college's courses had been moved to the new platform.

Greenville College had been looking for an LMS that was simple to use, supported creating and maintaining rubrics, and offered complete mobile functionality, something that is available through Desire2Learn Mobile.

"Faculty members are excited about the migration, and instructors in our pilot have really enjoyed using the system. Student feedback about Desire2Learn Learning Suite has been extremely positive as well," said Vickie Cook, dean of the School of Education and director of online learning at Greenville College.

The college also implemented Desire2Learn ePortfolio, which enables students to store, organize, reflect on, and share documents, graphics, audio files, presentations, and other items that represent them as a learner. When students graduate, they can export the contents of of their e-portfolio, so they can take it with them.

The college reported it plans to expand its implementation of Desire2Learn Learning Suite. This month, the college is deploying Desire2Learn Learning Repository, a content management system for managing, harvesting, and sharing learning objects. In September, the college will implement Desire2Learn Analytics, which tracks, analyzes, and assesses student achievement over time at the course, program, institution, and system levels.

Greenville College is an accredited four-year Christian liberal arts college that serves more than 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students. It is located in Greenville, Illinois.

Further information about Desire2Learn Learning Suite is available on the Desire2Learn site.
