Fayetteville State U Launches New Mass Notification System

Fayetteville State University (FSU) has adopted a new mass notification system in an effort to improve communication and emergency preparedness.

The school has moved its mass notification services to Blackboard Connect to replace its implementation of RaveAlert from Rave Mobile Safety. The university, which uses Blackboard's learning management system as well, expected to test out the alerting platform on its North Carolina campus on January 9.

The institution anticipates using Connect for emergency broadcasts as well as disseminating information on registration deadlines, schedule reminders, and campus events. The service allows administrators to record and send an unlimited number of personalized messages to phones and through email, texting, posts on Facebook, RSS feeds, and Twitter channels, and via TTY/TDD device messaging.

"The safety of our campus is our top priority, which is why we need to be able to communicate with students, faculty, and staff quickly in an urgent situation," said Chancellor James Anderson. "Blackboard Connect enables us to communicate efficiently with the campus community in just a matter of minutes, helping save valuable time, use resources efficiently, and protect our students."
