Epson Intros 3D Projectors for Education
Epson has released two 3D projector solutions designed for the education market. The projectors will be available to view at the upcoming FETC 2013 conference taking place January 28-31 in Orlando, FL.
Epson's PowerLite W16 features 3,000 lumens of color brightness and 3,000 lumens of white brightness, automatic horizontal and vertical keystone correction, and standard 2D and active 3D projection technology. Active shutter 3D RF glasses are required to view 3D objects. The unit measures 12.8 inches (w) x 9.6 inches (d) x 3.1 inches (h) and weighs six pounds. The W16 has a contrast ratio of 5,000:1 for 2D and 3,000:1 for active 3D.
The PowerLite W16SK is a dual projection, stack mount system, featuring standard 2D and passive 3D projection technology. Users will need passive 3D glasses when viewing 3D objects. The projector offers manual keystone correction and 6,000 lumens of color brightness and 6,000 lumens of white brightness, in 2D mode. When stacked the unit measures 14.6 inches (w) x 13.8 inches (d) x 8.8 inches (h) and weighs 17.4 pounds. The W16SK has a contrast ratio of 5,000:1 for stacked 3D.
Epson's new projectors come with native 1280x 800 (WXGA) resolution and support for multiple HDMI 3D formats, with no external converter box required. AV inputs for the projectors include RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin), HDMI, and stereo RCA audio. Control and peripheral ports include RS-232c and USB. The projectors' 200-watt UHE (E-torl) lamp will last up to 4,000 hours--in Normal mode--and up to 5,000 hours in ECO mode, according to the company.
Both projectors will be available this month—the PowerLite W16 for $849 and the PowerLite W16SK for $1,899—and are covered by a limited 2-year warranty. Additional information is available at the company's Web site.
