Southwest Tennessee Community College To Open New Tech Center
Southwest Tennessee Community College has opened a new technology center on campus. The new facility will be used for information technology classes and serve as a testing location for the Information Technology Services Department.
Inventory Locator Service (ILS), a subsidiary of Boeing that provides supply chain software for aviation and defense companies, provided a one-time donation in an undisclosed amount for the center. A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony took place yesterday, February 26, at the new center, which is housed in the Butler Building.
"A company rarely has the opportunity to invest in something that will help its community over the long term and also potentially shape future employees," said ILS President Eric Anderson.
ILS also sponsors a scholarship named after Minnie Ash, the first president of ILS and a graduate of Southwest Tennessee Community College.
Southwest Tennessee Community College, based in Memphis, TN, has two main campuses, four center locations, and several teaching sites. It has more than 3,000 enrolled students.
