Online Fair Lets Kentucky Students Ask Questions in Real Time About Transferring Credits

Kentucky students looking to have college credits or associate's degrees transferred to a four-year university or college will have the opportunity March 6 to have their questions answered in real time.

The 12-hour online Transfer Madness fair, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST, will make transfer advisors available from all of the state's public and private colleges and universities to answer students' questions in live chats online.

Students will also be able to download e-brochures, view videos and podcasts, and register for $1,000 scholarships. Additionally, participants will have a chance to win prizes such as iPads, Kindle Fires, basketballs autographed by Rick Pitino and John Calipari, and $50 gas cards.

The fair is sponsored by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), and was developed in support of the Council's Stronger by Degrees strategic plan "to improve the quality of Kentucky's work force by increasing the number of students who transfer from KCTCS colleges to four-year institutions," according to a news release.

KCTCS Chancellor Jay Box said it's important for students to hone relationships with four-year colleges and universities before attending them.

"One of the key success factors in the transfer game is connecting with and developing a relationship with four-year institutions prior to attendance. That is why this Transfer Madness event is so important … and a real slam dunk for everyone involved in the transfer game," he said.
