Echo360 Integrates with Canvas LMS

Echo360 will integrate its active learning platform and lecture capture solution with the Instructure Canvas cloud-based learning management system (LMS). The integration is designed to make it easier for teachers to control how students access their Echo360 lecture recordings, save time by automating technology tasks, and make it easier for students to access recorded lectures.

The integration embeds the EchoCenter portal into the Canvas user interface, so instructors don't have to publish their Echo360 course recordings manually, and they can access their content and analytics in the same place. It also lets them schedule timed release of content to control its availability, which is particularly important for flipped classrooms and massive open online courses (MOOCs). Students gain the ability to access their course materials and lectures directly through Canvas, to they don't need to log in to the Echo360 system separately.

"Echo360 was built for educators by educators. We understand that technology must not distract from teaching and classroom time," said Fred Singer, CEO of Echo360, in a prepared statement. "By integrating our solution with Canvas, we are making it even easier for educators to use our platform and increase their efficiency by quickly automating time-consuming tasks."

Echo360 now supports the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) technology standard, which enables remote tools and content to be integrated into educational technologies. Echo360's integration with Canvas is its first integration to use the LTI standard.

The Echo360 integration with Canvas is part of the EchoSystem 5.2 product release, which is available now.
