Parchment Launches Transcript Exchange Platform

Parchment has released an upgraded platform designed to make sending and receiving secure academic transcripts between students and institutions an easier and more efficient process.

Parchment Exchange combines the functionalities of the company's former platforms Docufide, which focused on the exchange of transcripts from high schools to universities, and Avow Systems, which Parchment acquired to provide secure electronic document delivery.

Comprising a community of authenticated senders and receivers, the restructured interface integrates a registered receiver network of more than 1,500 colleges and universities across a sender network.

Several new features include a "to-do" list that streamlines the review and approval of transcript requests, and an enhanced print operation that extends the availability of secure print processing across the sender network allowing higher education members to create the look and feel of their existing transcript or print to their own transcript paper. A unified inbox allows member institutions to aggregate the receipt of transcripts from the member database as well as from institutions that send standards-based transcript data over the Texas SPEEDE (Standardization of Postsecondary Education Electronic Data Exchange) server and the California e-transcript California network, with additional networks to follow.

 Key features include:

  • Touch-free automated ordering, receiving, sending, and printing;
  • Transcript delivery available in print, image, or standards-based EDI or XML data formats;
  • Compatable with any student information system (SIS) or electronic admissions application (eApp);
  • Branded transcripts; and
  • Tracking and reporting metrics.

"The registrar is the keeper of an institution's 'integrity keys,'" said Michael Rendon, registrar at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi, in a prepared statement. "The challenge is to find systems that allow you to provide services without compromising security. The Parchment e-transcript solution catapulted our transcript operations from an aged and meandering process into a fast, customer-friendly solution. The turnaround for a secure, certified official transcript, fully branded, is now only a matter of minutes."

Parchment works with more than 7,400 secondary and post-secondary institutions to allow students and institutions to securely collect, promote, and share academic e-transcripts. For more information, visit parchment.com.
