Jenzabar Revs Social Media Platform for Higher Ed
Jenzabar released the latest version of Jenzabar Social at the Educause 2013 conference in Anaheim last week.
Jenzabar Social is a platform for higher education institutions to create online communities through existing social networks, such as Facebook, or to create private online communities. According to Michael O'Heam, product manager for Jenzabar Social, it can be a hassle for schools to keep track of their various social media sites and which ones are official, but Jenzabar Social is designed to make those tasks easier.
"The dashboard within Jenzabar Social collaborates official social media accounts across the institution, from admissions and athletics, to student affairs and alumni relations,” he said in a prepared statement. “The different social media accounts are brought together in one secure location through the Jenzabar Social platform, making it easier for constituents to find and track social media presence and activity of their institutions.”
According to the company, the new version of Jenzabar Social offers responsive design tools to scale content appropriately for desktops, tablets, or smartphones. The update also adds support for more online social networking tools, including Google+, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter.
Other key features of Jenzabar Social include:
- Secure monitoring of social media sites;
- Ability for students to connect directly to courses in Jenzabar's learning management system (LMS), Jenzabar eLearning, and share information with classmates through social media;
- Private communities in Jenzabar Social that don't require students to "friend" or "follow" each other in order to connect; and
- Support for candidate paperwork submission through the school's social media applications.
