Epson Wireless Scanner Scans Direct to Mobile Devices

Epson America has announced the WorkForce DS-560, a wireless sheetfed scanner that provides point-to-point scanning directly to smartphones, tablets, PCs or Macs. Users can upload scans to cloud services such as Google Docs or Evernote, directly from their mobile device.

According to the company, the WorkForce DS-560 delivers scan speeds of up to 26 ppm/52 ipm1 at 300 dpi, and can scan both sides of one sheet in just one pass. The built-in automatic document feeder can handle a stack of up to 50 pages, while ultrasonic double-feed detection technology can sense if more than a single page has been fed and automatically stop the feeding to avoid missing pages or jamming.

TWAIN and ISIS drivers are available to facilitate integration into third-party software, including custom content management systems. An optional network module (sold separately) can support up to 100 workstations with full scanner functionality.

Additional features include:

  • Compact Design, measuring 6.1 x 11.7 x 6 inches;
  • Accommodates a wide range of paper types, from rigid ID and business cards to documents up to 36 inches, as well as folded pages without using a carrier sheet;
  • Color Enhance feature captures specific and continuously variable colors from the original document before converting to black-and-white;
  • Color Dropout feature removes any color from the scanned image;
  • Duty cycle of up to 3,000 sheets per day;
  • Optical character recognition software converts scanned documents to editable text; and
  • RoHS compliant and recyclable.
