Epson Unveils Big Changes, New Releases to Projector Lines

Epson is rolling out a host of expansions and new releases to its various lines of projectors, including the addition of three new models to its PowerLite series and the introduction of its BrightLink Pro ultra-short throw interactive projectors.

The announcements were made at this year’s InfoComm A/V trade show in Las Vegas. The company also refreshed its PowerLite Pro Z line, designed for larger venues like lecture halls or auditoriums, that offers up to 11,000 lumens of color brightness as well as more powerful performance features and advanced display capabilities.

The new models of the PowerLite 1900-series projector line include the 1975W (5,000 lumens), 1980WU (4,400 lumens) and 1985WU (4,800 lumens). The 1975W and the 1985WU feature wireless full HD video transfer via Intel WiDi and Android Miracast, as well as two HDMI ports, one with MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) for connecting multiple digital devices. All three models work with the free Epson iProjection app that allows for wireless projection from Apple or Android devices.

The BrightLink Pro 1430Wi and 1420Wi use built-in tools to transform flat surfaces, such as whiteboards and tables, into interactive, digital whiteboard-like displays. The new series feature a new Whiteboard Sharing Tool that allows up to 15 participants to join a sharing session directly from any mobile device with a web browser or from another BrightLink Pro projector. They offer 3,300 lumens of color brightness and the 1430Wi supports gestures, up to six fingers for annotations, and supports two pens writing simultaneously.

Nine new installation projectors were also added to the PowerLite Pro Z line, varying between 8,300 and 11,000 lumens. Some models also include WUXGA resolution with native full HD 1080p support, HDBaseT connectivity, and portrait mode projection. They support 360-degree installation and offer seven lens options with lens shift, including a new 0.7 short throw lens, as well as short-, wide-, rear-, and long-throw lenses. All models will be available by September.
