College's Student Success Portal Handles Admin, Communication Functions

A newly designed online portal is letting current and prospective Southwestern Michigan College attendees handle a range of administrative, financial, and curricular functions, in a system expressly designed for mobile use.

The school’s Student Success Platform, as it’s called, was to help improve graduation and retention rates. Prospective students first use the platform to apply for admission, then later to check admission status, register for classes, pay bills, check email, and view schedules. It also offers access to Moodle, Southwest Michigan’s LMS.

In an effort to help faculty and counseling staff keep track of students, the system also supports alerts, notifications, and targeted communications to "proactively mitigate risks of failure," according to N2N Services, the company behind the platform.

For students that may need extra help or guidance on assignments, the portal includes a learning media platform, which makes digital media content available to students on demand on both traditional and mobile operating systems.
