EdX, Arizona State U Add Online Proctoring Service for Global Freshman Academy
EdX has tapped a private partner to provide remote proctoring services for its
Global Freshman Academy.
A partnership between edX and Arizona State University, the Global
Freshman Academy allows students to complete their first year of college online for credit.
The MOOC provider has selected Software Secure's
RPNow to provide proctored assessments for students at
any time and from any location. The cloud-based service uses a webcam to verify the student's identity and to record the student throughout the
assessment to ensure there are no violations.
"We are delighted to work with Software Secure to provide virtual proctoring for edX courses," said Anant Agarwal, CEO at edX, in a prepared
statement. "They have been a trusted partner in our verified certificate program since 2013, ensuring the identity of each student. This new
proctoring solution is an important next step in providing a secure and verified learning environment for those students interested in credit
bearing courses."
