edX Expands MicroMasters Programs With Data Science, Digital Leadership and More

Massive open online course (MOOC) provider edX is introducing 16 new MicroMasters programs this spring that span business analytics, digital product management, cybersecurity and data science fields.

The expansion builds on the success of the MicroMasters program launch last September, when MIT debuted 19 programs that covered topics such as artificial intelligence and supply chain management. For this launch, continuing partners and their MicroMasters courses include:

• Columbia University: Business Analytics  
• Rochester Institute of Technology: Cybersecurity; and
• Curtin University: Marketing in a Digital World.

New partners and their MicroMasters courses include:

• Boston University: Digital Leadership and Digital Product Management;
• University of Adelaide: Big Data;
• Georgia Tech: Analytics: Essential Tools and Methods;
• University of Pennsylvania: Robotics;
• The University of California, San Diego: Data Science;
• Delft University of Technology: Solar Energy Engineering;
• The RWTH Aachen University: Managing Technology & Innovation: How to deal with disruptive change;
• University of British Columbia: Software Development; and
• University System of Maryland: Software Testing and Verification, Bioinformatics, Cloud Computing, and Instructional Design and Technology.

The MicroMasters programs aim to “bridge the knowledge gap between higher education and the workplace by offering content and credentials in the most in-demand fields and skills needed for success in today’s rapidly-evolving and tech-driven world,” according to the edX announcement.
