Pearson, Panopto Collaborate To Deliver Lecture Capture Software

A division of worldwide education vendor Pearson went public with a plan to sell lecture capture software from another company into its higher education markets. Pearson Learning Solutions, which develops and markets the online learning management system LearningStudio and custom textbooks, will now be offering its customers Panopto's technology for recording and publishing lectures.

The Panopto application allows faculty users to record, organize, and share presentations. Students who wish to view the recordings can use Panopto's search engine to track down specific parts of the lecture they wish to review and then watch it on computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

According to a statement, Pearson will work directly with administrators and faculty to integrate Panopto into their program offerings. Pearson sells custom curriculum that can draw from the company's pool of content as well as instructor-created materials.

"We are committed to creating access to personalized learning opportunities that support students with multiple learning styles. With the addition of lecture capture to our service offerings, students can receive assistance with their studies anytime, anywhere--increasing their level of engagement with the course material and thus improving their achievement and retention," said Don Kilburn, CEO of Pearson Learning Solutions.
