Boise State U Replaces Cadaver Lab With Virtual Anatomy Tool
Students at Boise State University (BSU) are using virtual cadavers to study human anatomy. According to a statement released Monday to the press, the university recently closed its human cadaver lab to adopt AnatomyTV, a Web-based solution from Primal Pictures.
AnatomyTV is an interactive, online resource that provides real-time 3D modeling of the human anatomy. Students can view images—produced from real medical scan data—of more than 7,500 structures and create custom views, which can be bookmarked, labeled, and exported. With a mouse, users can rotate the 3D models and show structures in groups—muscles, vessel systems, and organ systems—or individually. Structures can be added, removed, or shown in opaque or x-ray. The product includes narrated animations, learning objectives, self-testing, and pronunciation guides.
