Bluefield College Adopts New LMS
Virginia's Bluefield College has deployed a new learning management system (LMS). The private, liberal arts institution has implemented Jenzabar's e-Racer solution.
Bluefield had been searching for a new system that would support integration and be easy to upgrade each year. The institution conducted a rigorous review and test process before deciding on e-Racer.
"During the selection process, I offered to demo e-Racer head-to-head against any other LMS solution to prove its value," said Steve Kessinger, director of information services and technology at Bluefield College, in a prepared statement. "So, we had our own throw-down between e-Racer and another finalist. IT didn’t solely make the decision. We did our part to champion the product we believed was best for the institution but various faculty power users and members of our leadership team, including the president, chose e-Racer."
With its new system, Bluefield was able to do away with manual enrollment, the task of creating course shells, and the need for "building and maintaining a customized integration."
The institution also used e-Racer to take a hybrid program completely online. According to a statement issued by Jenzabar, LMS use by faculty throughout Bluefield has grown since e-Racer's implementation, from approximately 50 percent usage to "70 percent for traditional faculty and 100 percent for the new online program."
Additional information about e-Racer can Web be found at Jenzabar’s Web site.
