Ivy Tech To Take Retention System Statewide
Ivy Tech Community College will integrate an enterprise student success system with its existing learning management system, student information system, and degree-audit system in an effort to foster student success systemwide.
For the last two years, two of the college's 14 administrative regions had been working with Starfish Retention Solutions to support student retention in those regions. The college has now expanded its relationship with Starfish by entering into a five-year partnership with the company to implement a comprehensive approach to academic advising throughout the college's statewide system.
The college will work together with Starfish Retention Solutions to integrate the Starfish system with its Blackboard LMS, the Ellucian Banner student information system, and the DARS degree-audit reporting system. The integration will enable the college's academic advisors to access student data from these disparate systems and receive information from faculty about students' academic performance in real time.
"We are focused on helping our students achieve their educational goals. Every decision we make at Ivy Tech is based on how it will affect the success of our students. To effectively deliver on this mission, we need to define consistent processes and provide our advising professionals the tools that enable us to efficiently provide advising pathways to success for our students," said Thomas J. Snyder, president of Ivy Tech Community College, in a prepared statement. "Like many other schools, we are facing times of decreasing resources during times of increasing growth. We need to find the right tools to help us serve more students with less staff per student."
Ivy Tech Community College is Indiana's largest postsecondary institution and serves almost 200,000 students each year.
