Predixion Makes Predictive Analytics Suite Free for Higher Ed

Predixion Software is making its analytics software and training guides free for academic institutions.

Through a new program, Predixion in the Classroom, instructors and students can gain full access to an unrestricted version of Predixion Enterprise Insight.

"Even if every college were to graduate nothing but data scientists over the next few years, we would still have a shortage of professionals with analytic skills," said Simon Arkell, CEO, Predixion Software, in a prepared statement. "The PIC program offers major benefits for both students who require practical expertise in predictive analysis, and for businesses that will be desperately seeking out the next generation of data scientists in the coming years."

Several universities in the United States are already taking advantage of the PIC program, including University of Washington, Western Michigan University and the University of Maryland University College

"If we want to see talented data analysts in the future, we need to put the actual technology in the students' hands today," said Darwin Schweitzer, instructor at the University of Washington, in a statement released to coincide with the announcement. "Any aspiring data analyst can work with Predixion's software, and that lets our students focus on the real-world problems that predictive analytics can and does solve."

"The use of Predixion software is an exceptionally valuable experience for my students," said Thomas Rienzo, University of Western Michigan. "Data interpretation will be a critical interest for organizations of all types for at least the remainder of this decade. The techniques of sophisticated analyses have to move from an elite core of specialized experts to masses of smart functional professionals who know how to exploit expertise embedded in software. Predixion is a great way to extend spreadsheet and database skills into sophisticated predictive analytics."

"We plan to use Predixion Insight as part of our Master's Degree in Data Analytics program," said Steve Knode, University of Maryland University College. "The demand for skills in data analytics is large and growing. Predixion software is very impressive and easy to use and it will provide significant benefits to our students."

The program is open to any academic institution that offers data sciences courses. Complete details and a form for requesting an academic code can be found on the PIC education portal. Questions can also be directed via e-mail to Jennifer Dodos at [email protected].
