U South Carolina Streamlines Library Search

The University of South Carolina (USC) has adopted a new discovery service in an effort to streamline and improve the flexibility of search for library users.

After trying several services, the library staff chose to adopt an integration of Ebsco Discovery Service (EDS) and Innovative's Encore Discovery Solution. The integration provides the ability to search multiple resources with a single tool.

"Based on feedback from our librarians and library staff, USC found that the EDS/Encore combination was the right fit," said Paul Cammarata, assistant collection development librarian at USC, in a prepared statement. "The USC system consists of Columbia and seven other campuses throughout the state and our libraries' needs and demands vary greatly. Flexibility was very important to us and Encore/EDS gave us that, both on the front end as well as the back end with the Admin module."

More information about EDS is available at ebsco.com. Go to iii.com to learn more about Encore Discovery Solution.
