Binghamton University Adds 200 Plus Online Certificate Programs

New York’s Binghamton University is working with an online education site, World Education.net, to make its more than 200 online certificate courses available to students and state residents.

The site often partners with accredited universities to make its certifications available; fields of study include IT, health care, business, and other vocational trades. For the courses, students proceed through material with ongoing help from teachers and career coaches. Most certificates can be earned in less than four months.

Students in some programs can also participate in so-called externships--short-term internships that include job shadowing.

The partnership with Binghamton, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, is designed to help boost the university’s Center for Innovative and Continuing Education, which is working to grow its online course library to provide additional educational programs to state residents.
