Airwolf Rolls Out Expandable Entry-Level 3D Printer for Education

Airwolf 3D has started shipping a new entry-level 3D printer that comes in around $2,300 and boasts a build envelope of 1,100 cubic inches.

The new model, the Airwolf 3D HDL, is a modular unit that can be upgraded as new features become available. It features a build envelope that measures 12" x 8" x 11", a layer-to-layer resolution of 0.08 mm and a maximum speed of 150 mm per second. According to Airwolf, the unit comes full assembled and pre-calibrated. Supported media include Biodegradable PLA, BronzeFill, LayBrick, LayWood, Soft PLA, TPE and TPU filaments. Additional capabilities can be added later, according to Airwolf, including "jam-resistant JRx hot end or dual hot-end that print engineering-grade filaments like polycarbonate and Bridge nylon."

"The AW3D HDL is not a toy for hobbyists," said Erick Wolf, Airwolf 3D founder and chairman, in a prepared statement. "It's a serious professional 3D printer built in response to customers asking for a high-quality unit at an aggressive price point. The only difference between it and our most advanced 3D printer is the absence of technically advanced features, which can easily be added as needs and budgets dictate."

The Airwolf 3D HDL is available now for $2,295 and will be on exhibit at 3D Printer World Expo later this month.
