Simpson College Adds Online PD for Teachers

Simpson College has partnered with a provider of online professional development for educators to offer 17 continuing education courses for preK-12 teachers across Iowa.

The self-paced online courses come from Learner's Edge and cover topics such as teaching students with autism, taking a new look at homework, cultural competency for educators, learning to learn, improving student engagement and dealing with difficult parents and situations, among others. Each three-credit course costs $405.

"Simpson College is well known for its Undergraduate Teacher Education program and also offers a Masters of Arts in Teaching and Transition to Teaching program," according to a news release. "Adding a wide-range of professional development courses for teachers will allow Simpson to meet the needs of new and experienced educators looking to expand their knowledge base."

"Education changes so quickly," said Joe Cotter, president and CEO of Learners Edge, in a prepared statement. "We have a team of former teachers and administrators constantly developing rigorous, applicable courses that are geared towards helping teachers stay in tune with the needs of today's children. Our new partnership with Simpson College will help deliver that applicable learning to even more education professionals."
