ComputracePlus Protects Laptops at St. John's University

This generation of college students expects universities to provide technology as part of the academic learning environment. The goal of St. John's University (NY) is to provide a level playing field for all of our students, and it is essential to our Vincentian mission as a Catholic university that all students are given access to the resources needed for their education. Our laptop initiative directly supports this goal.The university launched its Academic Computing Initiative in 2003, a program that put leading-edge technology into the hands of students and faculty alike. St. John's distributes laptops to all undergraduate students and full-time faculty through a partnership with Lenovo.
Faculty and students are able to share academic resources at all five of our campus locations via the Internet and through St. John's wireless network. And with the launch of St. John's Central, the university’s secure web portal, students and faculty have instant access from anywhere in the world to numerous online resources--including e-mail, calendars, "headline news," message boards, campus announcements, class schedules, grades, and library resources.
With more than 14,000 laptops distributed to students and faculty, the management and protection of St. John's investment is vital to the initiative.
