LSU MI&T Improves Remote Medical Care, Collaboration, Education

The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Informatics and Telemedicine program has picked Houston, TX-based Eceptionist to help build systems that help facilitate health care between providers and patients.LSU's MI&T program is designed to promote the use of information and communications technology to provide health across distances (telehealth), and to leverage the acquisition, maintenance, retrieval, and application of biomedical information to improve medical care, education, and research (medical informatics).
LSU will use an Eceptionist platform in its medical and correctional facilities and clinics to help manage and support different medical services in various ways:
- Giving patients access to specialties that are not provided in the areas where they live.
- The ability to get second opinions from specialists not in the region.
- Continuity of care for remote follow-up patients.
- Cut unnecessary patient transfers.
- Promote continuing medical education.
