2 Universities Secure Data Using SafeGuard

The George Washington University and the University of San Francisco has deployed data security using Utimaco Safeware's SafeGuard offerings.As the new school year draws close, new students will bring with them a variety of laptops, removable storage and other mobile devices that must be secured. Likewise, these new students will share a large volume of personal information.
To that end, SafeGuard lets the universities protect data and set and manage security policies for both the user end points, as well as the back end. The solutions also protect data during transmission and processing, for a 360-degree approach.
The SafeGuard suite comprises five pieces:
- SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center, which provides a central point of control over policy implementation and enforcement;
- SafeGuard Enterprise Device Encryption, which encrypts mobile devices and removable media to protect against theft;
- SafeGuard File and Folder Encryption, which encrypts user data across local drives and network servers at the file and directory level;
- SafeGuard Configuration Protection, which provide central control over desktop and mobile clients to protect against malware, unauthorized configuration changes and inappropriate software use; and
- SafeGuard Data Exchange, which secures data exchanges with outside parties.
