Blackboard Opens Data Center for Delivery of Managed Services

Education software company Blackboard has opened its fifth international data center. The latest one is located in Sydney, Australia, to host software services for higher education clients based in Asia Pacific time zones. The company said it currently has 520 clients that use hosted services, in sizes ranging from a few hundred end users to a million.The new data center also has an agreement with Australia's Academic and Research Network (AARNET), which provides research services to 38 Australian universities. The agreement will allow Blackboard ASP services to host AARNET research along with Blackboard applications at no additional cost to mutual clients.
