Texas Campus To Implement MIR3 Emergency Notification Platform

Texas Southern University (TSU) has chosen MIR3 as the emergency notification platform for its Houston campus.

MIR3's service, inCampusAlert, allows campuses to reach contacts via cellular and landline phones, Short Message String (SMS) devices, e-mail, fax and pagers. Notifications can be sent via the Internet, dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) phones, e-mail or by calling MIR3's 24/7/365 support center. MIR3's notification capabilities are also used for routine high-volume messaging and all-purpose broadcasting, such as administrative notices to employees, messages for coordinating staffing and schedules or delivering auditable information to customers.

Additionally, users with cell phones can do two-way text messaging, real-time reports and integrated incident management through the software.

The school put a request for proposal out for the notification system in November 2007. That document says that the contact list could approach 15,000 users, not including alumni. The system had been expected to be deployed around January 1, 2008.

Current MIR3 higher ed customers include University of Pennsylvania; University of Chicago; University of California, San Diego; University of California, Davis; St. John's University in New York; Queens College and Kingsborough College.
