Motorola Unveils Suite of Wireless Network Design and Deployment Software

10/16/2008

This week at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2008, Motorola unveiled the One Point Wireless Suite, a set of software offerings designed to make wireless network deployment, provisioning, and management more intuitive and user-friendly. The company also announced the upcoming release of its Wireless Manager 2.0, providing a unified management solution for Motorola wireless networks.

According to the announcement, the One Point Wireless Suite is intended to help move costly, time-consuming manual network design to more efficient, software-based plans. The company said the new solution will help provide optimal design, reduced deployment costs, and faster setup.

Components that make up the suite include:

The company's Wireless Manager 2.0, slated for release in the first quarter of 2009, uses a mash-up interface to provide users a real-time, visual representation of their network. Network information--in the form of icons--is laid over satellite images, providing comprehensive information in a familiar environment. The solution also provides historical data to show administrators how a network has performed over time.
