Carnegie Mellon's Classroom Salon Encourages Collaborative Critique
Faculty members at Carnegie Mellon are expanding their experiment with a social networking site designed to spur readers' participation in discussions on articles and papers. So far, thousands of high school and university students have tried out Classroom Salon, which allows a reader to add comments, annotations, and tags to passages in text that can be read by others.
