  • Funding Crisis May Marginalize SC Online Library System

    A consortium of university and other libraries in South Carolina faces the prospect of shuttering the bulk of its online library system in the face of state budget cuts. The Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL) lost $1.8 million--90 percent of its funding--in cutbacks, forcing the organization to cancel database and electronic journal subscriptions and reduce its services to three days a week from five. The organization has projected that it will be able to maintain the scaled back delivery schedule through the middle of 2009.More

    Microsoft this week announced a community technology preview (CTP) release of Visual Studio extensions for SharePoint. The new Visual Studio 2008 extensions for Windows SharePoint Services (VSeWSS), released as version 1.3, are templates for creating, debugging, packaging and deploying SharePoint projects. More

    Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL took the top spot in a ranking of online colleges and degree programs by the Online Education Database. The OEDb Online College Rankings 2009 evaluates and ranks 44 undergraduate colleges and universities that offer most or all of their degree programs online. Nova Southeastern has both traditional classrooms and a distance education degree program.More
