Partnering With Institutional Leadership to Improve Student Learning Outcomes

Many institutions are increasing their focus on assessing and improving student learning outcomes. This interactive presentation, moderated by Andrew Barbour, Senior Contributing Editor at Campus Technology, will highlight how two IT leaders partnered with institutional leadership to leverage technology that supports these efforts and scales across the institution. The presenters will share strategies they employed to select and implement an assessment management system, integrate it with existing IT architecture, and foster community engagement and collaboration throughout the process.

    Beth Rugg is the Assistant Director of Technology and Instructional Support Services at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. Beth is responsible for overseeing the Helpdesk, Instructional Support, Training and Documentation, Digital Media Production, Student Labs and Student Employment. She is an IT project manager and has been responsible for several enterprise implementations, including the Taskstream e-portfolio project.

    Scott Trimmer is the Academic Technology Services Manager & Blackboard Administrator at the University of Findlay. This role has afforded him the opportunity to play an active role in the selection and implementation of campus-wide assessment, web conferencing, interactive whiteboard, retention, and clicker tools. Scott has presented at many industry conferences, including Blackboard World Conference & Collaborate Connections Summit, the HLC Annual Conference, and the AAC&U Annual Meeting.
