Hollywood, California was the perfect venue for the 12th annual Syllabus conference, with its theme, “Spotlight on Innovation, Integration, and Collaboration.” Boasting five higher education IT stars as keynotes and a cast of more than 150 presenters, workshop leaders, and panelists, Syllabus2005 was a hit with attendees. Keynote Diana Oblinger, Educause VP, explored the expectations of “Net Generation” students.

Reaching out with IT

Case Western Reserve University (OH) VP of IT and CIO Lev Gonick presented his keynote, “From the Digital Campus to the Connected City”—how colleges and universities can collaborate with their surrounding communities on bold information technology projects like Case’s OneCleveland. Other keynotes included University of Georgia CIO and associate provost Barbara White; Duke University (NC) VP for IT and CIO Tracy Futhey; and UCLA Associate Vice Chancellor of IT Jim Davis.
