Ektron's CMS400.NET Version 6.0
Out-of-the-Box Web Content Management

Web content management software developer Ektron has announced CMS400.NET Version 6.0, its all-in-one application for creating, deploying, and managing interactive web, intranet, and extranet sites. New features include site analytics, blogging, forums, polls, surveys, and content ratings, enabling institutions to directly engage site visitors, collaborate on ideas, and allow interaction among visitors. CMS400.NET is designed with out-of-the-box functionality to allow nontechnical users to author and publish content in a familiar environment, while webmasters, designers, and developers can drag and drop pre-built controls that reduce coding. Pricing starts at $8,640 for a 10-user, one-URL license with one year of maintenance.

Respondus LockDown Browser
Secure Online Testing

Respondus, a developer of testing, survey, and game applications for eLearning platforms, has released Respondus LockDown Browser, a custom browser that creates a secure testing function within the WebCT and Blackboard environments. When students use the browser, they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications, until their work has been submitted for grading—helping universities curb digital cheating on online assessments. Educational institutions can obtain a free pilot license through August 1, 2006; annual licensing fees start at $690.

Verbatim’s 16MB FlashDisc
Low-Cost Flash Media

CD and DVD media company Verbatim’s 16MB FlashDisc is a new take on flash-based media devices. The circular device features a plastic exterior, a recessed area with a write-on user label, a snap-on protective cap, and the ubiquitous USB 2.0-compatible interface. FlashDisc’s 16MB storage capacity, though ample for modest-sized digital files, is notably lower than other, larger USB drives on the market—yet the lower capacity allows Verbatim to provide the devices at a cost-effective price point. MSRP: $19.99 for a multicolor three-pack.
