Sun Vice President of Global Government, Education, and Healthcare Kim Jones was inducted into the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame at an October 30 awards dinner in Santa Clara, CA. The prestigious honor is given each year to women who have made significant contributions in science and technology worldwide…

Jones was recognized for leadership during the past 20 years of her impressive career, and for expanding the role of technology in global education and scientific research. Notable among her more recent contributions to her field, she co-founded the Global Education and Learning Community (GELC), a non-profit community for developing open source curricula. “Kim has been one of the leaders around the world who’s really driven the Internet into the very backbone of how we educate people,” said Jonathan Schwartz, Sun’s CEO and president. “I suppose she’s a great role model for women, but I just think she’s a great role model for executives around the world,” added Sun Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors Scott McNealy. This year’s 11th annual WITI Hall of Fame awards honored five women for outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
