A New Executive Director for Sakai

Michael Korcuska will become the Sakai Foundation’s new executive director later this month, leading the Sakai community in the continued development of its open source collaboration and learning environment. Korcuska has an extensive career in software development--much of it within higher education, starting with his work two decades ago in Stanford University's Courseware Authoring Tools Group. He was most recently COO at Employment Law Training--a company which offers eLearning services--and he has worked in numerous positions relevant to large-scale software development throughout his career. He has been active in the Sakai community, particularly in the Sakai Requirements working group. "Michael's experience with large-scale software development and the culture of higher education are an excellent fit for the growing Sakai Community," says Brad Wheeler, CIO at Indiana University and a Sakai Board member. "He understands the Sakai vision and can help our community continue to achieve it." Charles Severance, who has held Sakai's executive director post for the past year will stay on until Korcuska assumes the role on July 23.
