Towson, Commerce Dept. Cooperate on Online Courses

Maryland's Towson University has formed a partnership with the United States Department of Commerce's National Technical Information Service to offer U.S. government employees discounts on Towson's professional online education programs.

The courses are designed to be practical by focusing on workplace scenarios that reflect what learners are likely face on the job, NTIS said. Other elements of the courseware are interactive simulations, online discussions, and collaborative course projects.

Towson and NTIS will initially offer courses in information technology, Microsoft certifications, project management training, and RFID, as well as master's degree programs in business administration, homeland security management, and security assessment. Towson said it would add to its course offerings to government employees on a quarterly basis.
