St. Mary's U Gets Federal Grant To Open CompSec Lab

St. Mary's University in Texas won an $87,000 grant from the United States Department of Education's Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program to help develop a computer security lab at the school.

The lab will enable students and faculty to integrate computer security projects into their classroom instruction. Wenbin Luo, an assistant professor of computer science at the Texas school, said the funding will help prepare students in a discipline that reaches in all aspects U.S. economic life.

"This lab will allow St. Mary's University to improve our computer security education in a way that will generate better research and more graduates who are prepared to find solutions to security problems," Luo said.
