Michigan State University Automates Capital Project Management

Michigan State University (MSU) has implemented with a new internal capital project management application. Skire Unifier provides collaboration mechanisms and control and visibility into individual capital projects and across a school's project and facilities portfolio. MSU eventually intends to extend the implementation to its IT and facilities management organizations in subsequent phases of the deployment.

"We see Unifier as a powerful platform that spans internal and external teams," said Jack Mumma, construction contracts administrator at MSU. "We rely on our contractors, construction managers and design professionals for our projects to succeed, and Unifier's ability to help us standardize and automate important processes is critical. Everyone will have permission-based visibility into project data and documents, status, costs, changes, and schedules. We can closely track project costs and funding sources, which makes auditing and reporting vastly easier."

Unifier provides functionality for setting up approval processes, managing risk, monitoring project completions and closures, and gaining visibility into project costs, schedules and reporting through a web browser.

Unifier will be implemented in several phases, with completion by fall 2008.
