U Alabama Adopts Angel

The University of Alabama in Huntsville said it has adopted the Angel Learning Management Suite (LMS). The Angel LMS makes course content and a variety of collaboration tools available online for 24/7 access.

"We're not going to change how today's students think. We have to reach them using the tools that are meaningful to them," said Bobbi Jo Rissmann, instructional technology administrator. Rissmann identified "Angel's clean interface, ease of use, flexibility, and value" among the reasons the 7,000-student university chose to adopt the system.

According to an Angel spokeswoman, the university is getting buy in from faculty for the use of the new learning management system based on the premise that if they use Angel rather than distributing print materials, they'll save enough money to preserve university jobs that are threatened by budget cuts.
