U Washington Aims To Streamline Data Access with Amalga
The
University of Washington has announced plans to use
Microsoft Amalga, the company's unified intelligence system, to give researchers simplified access to data scattered throughout current university information systems.
Amalga provides healthcare professionals with integrated access to a range of data sources, including financial, clinical, and administrative systems. The platform is intended to help clinical and translational research by allowing staff to pull mission-critical data when needed, without the typical systemic delays.
"We're excited to collaborate with Microsoft in utilizing Amalga, a new technology that opens up access to critical data currently stored in disparate systems, to help improve translational research," said Peter Tarczy-Hornoch, head of the Division of Biomedical and Health Informatics at the University of Washington, in a prepared statement. "The Amalga tool will improve the ability of ITHS to provide our researchers with access to all of the data they need when they need it, allowing them to conduct their work faster and more effectively."
Other institutions currently using the Amalga platform include the District of Columbia Primary Care Association, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Johns Hopkins Health System, and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, among others.
