SmoothWall has launched two new unified threat management (UTM) hardware appliances, the 100 and 300 Series, designed for small and medium sized organizations.
The new boxes provide a firewall combined with an intrusion detection system and anti-virus and e-mail security. Add-on features include advanced Web filtering, anti-spam, and bandwidth management. Pricing starts at just over $2,000.
The company, which produces the Guardian Web Filter, introduced its first hardware-based UTM appliance, the UTM-1000, in 2007. The latest releases are intended for environments with networks that have fewer than 500 users.
