Pacific U Integrates Facebook and Twitter into e2Campus Emergency Notification System

Pacific University of Forest Grove, OR has integrated its Facebook and Twitter accounts into its Omnilert e2Campus emergency notification system. This allows the university to send e2Campus alerts (called Boxer Alerts at Pacific U) automatically and simultaneously to the school's Facebook and Twitter accounts without the need for logging into Facebook and Twitter separately. This also means students who haven't enrolled in the school's official alert system may still get the alerts through the social networking and communication sites.

"This is one less thing we have to worry about when managing a campus emergency," said Lee M. Colaw, VP of information services. "Now if we broadcast emergency communications, we can feel confident we will reach the most people in the least amount of time with the least amount of steps and man power."

"It was an easy decision to implement because there was no extra cost to utilize this new capability. Facebook and Twitter are free, and e2Campus does not charge extra for the Facebook or Twitter utilities," he added.

Omnilert said Pacific U was the first university to use these services as part of its notification system. The company announced e2campus' integration with Facebook and Twitter in October.
